Fire service bleep test level
A commonly published target for UK fire and rescue services that use a shuttle run is 20m level 8.8. Some use the Chester treadmill test instead.
The common standard is 8.8 on the 20m test, eight shuttles into level 8.
That's a solid level of aerobic fitness, well above the police 5.4.
See where 8.8 sits on the full 20m chart: it's roughly 1,500 metres in around nine minutes.
Not every service uses the bleep test. Some assess with the Chester treadmill walk test or a job-related circuit. Check your service's recruitment pages before you train.
