Level Best: Bleep Test Trainer — Privacy Policy

Updated 19 September 2026 — these changes apply from build 33

The short version

Your scores, goals, profile details and runner names stay on your device. Product analytics and Apple's aggregate install attribution are enabled by default from build 33, with separate controls under Settings → Privacy. You can turn either off without limiting the app, and an existing opt-out stays off. Build 32 was prepared but never distributed.

Analytics and attribution

Level Best sends limited product-usage events to PostHog, our analytics processor. These events tell us things such as whether onboarding was completed, a run was started or finished, a result was saved, a paywall was viewed, and whether a purchase or restore flow succeeded, which app screens and features were opened, and whether audio or saving failed. They can also include the app version and build, operating-system version, general device type, a random app-install identifier and broad product state such as free or Pro access. The random identifier links actions across visits on this installation to measure journeys and returning use. This is pseudonymous usage data, not a named account. We also receive crash types and technical stack information to diagnose faults; exception messages and interaction breadcrumbs are excluded from build 33.

When install attribution is enabled, we also ask Apple's privacy-preserving attribution system to register three conversion milestones: install, completed first-run onboarding and a successful purchase. These values contain no purchase amount or product, fitness result, profile detail, advertising identifier or Level Best installation identifier. Apple can send delayed aggregate campaign reports to a participating advertising network, which may forward them to AppsFlyer so we can assess marketing. From build 33, Level Best has no AppsFlyer SDK, sends no data directly to AppsFlyer and does not configure an automatic Apple postback copy.

Released builds before build 33 may instead send install and app-launch information directly to AppsFlyer through its strict SDK. Those builds send no scores, profile information, purchase events or other in-app product events to AppsFlyer; collection of Apple's advertising identifier and identifier for vendors is disabled.

Analytics events never include your score, exercise time, distance, exact goals, test dates, age, sex, runner names, contacts, advertising identifiers or payment details. We do not create an analytics person profile for you, associate your identifier with your name, use session replay, record screen contents or track you across other apps or websites. PostHog stores this data in its EU service, and Level Best instructs PostHog not to use your IP address for location enrichment. This does not mean that network providers never process connection information to deliver or secure requests.

You can turn product analytics or install attribution off at any time under Settings → Privacy. Either choice can be changed later and does not limit the app. Existing declines are preserved; the default-on setting is not treated as an affirmative choice. Turning product analytics off stops new app-usage and diagnostic data being sent. Turning install attribution off stops future conversion-value updates, but an Apple postback already registered may still be delivered. Data already sent or an in-flight request is not recalled.

We rely on our legitimate interests in improving Level Best and understanding its marketing as the data-protection basis for this limited measurement where that basis applies. This does not claim that product analytics or attribution qualifies for a consent exemption under every country's separate device-storage or access rules.

What stays on your device

Your test scores, training history, goals, settings and any squad or runner names you enter are stored only on your device. If you delete the app, that data is deleted with it. When you share a score card or export squad results, the app hands that file to iOS so you can choose where it goes; the app itself transmits nothing.

Optional app feedback

The feedback form is available from Home, Settings, results and Support on the Level Best Pro screen. It opens in the app without an account or email requirement. Drafts stay on this device when you close the form or a send fails, until you send successfully or choose Discard draft. Nothing is submitted until you press Send.

Sending transfers your message, category, entry point, app version and build, operating-system version and locale to our shared feedback service in Neon, hosted in London. Please leave out personal information, fitness results and runner names. The app does not attach these, an account identifier, an analytics installation identifier or an advertising identifier. A random reference identifies this submission for safe retries; it is not a user identifier. Neon processes the network request and a short-lived anonymous access token. The feedback records do not store tokens or IP addresses.

We use feedback to understand problems and improve the app, and retain it until deleted by Tom Murton. Provider backups may retain deleted records within their restore period. Contact mail@tommurton.com about deletion, giving enough details to locate your message. This form has no individual reply channel. Support and feedback are reviewed in the same database.

When product analytics is enabled, we measure feedback entry points, offers, dismissals and send outcomes, and store-review request attempts. These events never contain the feedback message. Feedback submission works independently of the product analytics setting. Prompt timing and dismissal preferences are saved on this device; declining an offer does not prevent future manual feedback or determine eligibility for a later store-review request.

Purchases

Level Best Pro is a one-off in-app purchase. Payment and purchase entitlement are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. If analytics is enabled, we may receive only the product identifier and the outcome of a purchase or restore attempt. If install attribution is enabled, a successful purchase can also advance Apple's aggregate conversion value without identifying the product or amount.

Children

Level Best does not knowingly collect names, contact details or performance data from children. Product analytics uses the same limited, pseudonymous event set for every user and can be turned off on the device.

Changes

We will update this policy before a future app update materially changes these practices.
